Leading with Purpose

The Toronto Port Authority’s Board of Directors and senior executive team provide the leadership, oversight and strategic vision that guide our organization. Together, they are committed to advancing the Port Authority’s mandate, driving operational excellence and creating long-term value for the communities, industries and stakeholders we serve.

Grounded in integrity and guided by the highest standards of governance, transparency, accountability and compliance, our leadership works to honour a proud legacy while positioning the organization to meet future opportunities, strengthen critical infrastructure and deliver lasting value for generations to come.

Board of Directors

The Toronto Port Authority’s Board of Directors provides strategic oversight and governance, ensuring the organization fulfills its mandate with accountability, prudence and a long-term perspective.

Appointed by the federal, provincial and municipal levels of government, Board members bring extensive leadership experience across a broad range of sectors. Their collective expertise informs sound decision-making and supports the continued growth, sustainability and resilience of the organization.

Under its current governance structure, the Toronto Port Authority has a Board composed of nine seats in total. The City of Toronto and the Province of Ontario each appoint one director. The federal government holds the balance of seven Board seats. All individuals nominated by the federal Minister of Transport are appointed by the Governor in Council.

Regardless of which level of government sponsored their nomination, all directors serve a fiduciary duty to the Toronto Port Authority as an organization unto itself.

Drawing on decades of executive and governance experience, Board members contribute expertise in areas such as transportation, logistics, public policy, law, finance, accounting, investment management, communications and stakeholder relations. Their leadership helps ensure the Toronto Port Authority remains responsive to emerging opportunities while maintaining strong governance practices and delivering on its strategic objectives.

To support effective oversight and informed decision-making, the Board operates through four standing committees, each focused on key areas of organizational performance: Audit and Finance, Governance and Human Resources, Communications and Outreach, and Pension Committee.
